TEAMS
How many teams will you have? And which age groups?
We intend to accommodate at least five teams in the 24-25 club season. We will be offering tryouts for 12U - 16U age groups. Teams will be formed based on the number of player commitments; this may mean we do not end up forming a team of a specific age group if there are not enough committed or if we decide to create a second team within 1 or 2 age groups due to several commitments. If your age group gets dropped, however, you could still play "up" into a higher age group.

How are the age groups divided?
The following breakdown outlines the SCVA age definition policy.

16s and under division: Players born on or after July 1, 2008

14s and under division: Players born on or after July 1, 2010

13s and under division: Players born on or after July 1, 2011

PRACTICES
Where do you practice? And how often?
We will practice a minimum of 2 times per week. A maximum of 3 teams will practice out of Thrive Gym (Sylmar location) and a maximum of 2 teams will practice out of Santa Clarita Sports Center. Any and all weekend practices will take place at Thrive Gym. Outdoor local parks may also be utilized to work on multi-sport techniques and games that double as fun and unique team bonding activities.
SWITCHING CLUBS
My player would be switching clubs. If we ever decide to go back, will there be repercussions?
Again, if there were repercussions, you should consider if the club is seeking out their best interest or yours. Typically, there is no issue in switching clubs as long as you do not de-commit from a team after signing a Commitment Letter. We encourage you to seek out what is in your best interest. It is important to note, however, that in the older age groups, college coaches find it a red flag if a player is "club hopping". This is something they look out for because it could signal to them that the player could transfer from their school. It is important to find a club program that you believe in and somewhere that your athlete can develop as a player. College coaches put in a lot of time and effort vetting athletes (including the athlete's parents) and take into consideration the actions made at the club level.

COSTS
What is the cost for one season? Are uniforms included?
The costs break down as follows:
12U: $4,500 per season + $285 uniform package
13U, 14U, 15U/16U: $5,050 per season + $285 uniform package

What does the uniform package cover?
The uniform package covers 2 jersey tops, 1 backpack, and 1 warm up top.

What other costs are associated with club volleyball?
Club volleyball is very much a time and financial commitment. Extra costs include travel to/from weekend tournaments across Southern California. From Santa Clarita, venues could be 60-70 miles away or more. Local tournaments could also be 1 or 2 day events. There are tournament admission fees at most locations as well as parking fees; both can cost up to $20 per person for admission, and per car for parking. Other costs include travel and lodging when we have out-of-town or out-of-state tournaments that span 3 to 4 days. With all costs combined, a club volleyball season can cost up to, or over, $6,000 per season per family.
